This painting was bought the day after the opening of the exhibition it appeared in. A young woman came into the gallery just to look around. After some while she settled on this painting. She told me she would bring her husband back to look at the painting, but after a few minutes, decided to take it right then. Well, I was pretty happy about that! She said the painting reminded her of a husband and wife discussing an important matter. Go figure!

Are we hiding the beauty of our innocence or the ugliness of our ignorance?

The Painted Bird
was begun in 1960 and finished in 1961. It was inspired by events of that year and the biblical quote I have mentioned.
This next painting for consideration is titled The Painted Bird
, and was painted in 1995. The inspiration for this work comes from a book of the same name by Joerzy Kosinski.
In both paintings I have attempted to provide visual stimulus that would aid viewers to reflect upon the prejudices brought on by mere exterior differences.
